Something happened this Sunday that has never happened before in my ten years of preaching...

I once read a story about a pastor of a small town church who received a call from the fire department late in the evening explaining that his church was on fire and burning to the ground. The pastor jumped into his car and drove just a few miles down the road to see a seizable crowd gathered around his church as the flames soared high into the sky. The pastor frustrated by the scene, approached a gentlemen who happened to show up to get a closer view of the blaze. The pastor tapped this young man on his shoulder and said to him , "I've been the pastor of this church for nearly 20 years and I must admit, I've never seen you at my church before. And yet, here you are now." The man looked at the pastor and said, "Well, pastor. This is the first time that your church has ever been on fire."

Yesterday, following a rockin' worship time, I approached the platform to share my life talk message and before I had the chance to open my mouth, the fire alarm went off at the high school - and out we went! In my ten years since starting WCC, we had never had this happen before. As you can imagine, the service ended with the fire department arriving, only to discover that a main water pipe had burst, triggering off the alarm.

I had a number of people compliment me on my message and shared with me how it was, by far, the best message that I have ever preached in my ten years. Question: Is murder still a part of the Ten Commandments?

Have you ever given a message that was "smokin" hot?
