Our senior high student ministries program at Willowbrook Community Church was out in full force last night, flocking multiple yards as an effort to raise money for their trip to Puerto Rico in several weeks. Forty senior high students from our church will be serving the poor in Puerto Rico at the end of June. One of the many fundraising events is flocking yards (with those wonderful pink flamingos). Our church offered "flocking insurance" to our members of the church for the past month (50 dollars per-home) to keep these birds from landing on their yards. However, if three or more families from the church were willing to pay 35 dollars each to target a home, well...the birds are now destined to land on your yard - even if you purchased insurance (such was our case). It's been such a huge hit that even the local news paper is doing a full length feature on it this week! Cars drive by, stop - and actually take pictures of this scene. During the course of a week, six to eight homes are flocked in our community. The total amount of money raised, which gets into the thousands, all goes to the ministry in Puerto Rico.
