First day of ice-fishing with a good friend produced a few crappies (for those who don't fish, I know that word looks like something else)

There are times in a man's life that catching the limit is big deal. I believe that the limit for crappies is 15 per-person in Minnesota. I think for walleyes (our State fish) it is four per-person. Mosquitoes? Unlimited! But more importantly, it is just a great time to get away from the hustle and bustle that life can bring. I was privileged to spend four hours in a 4 by 6 house with a great friend of mine this morning. We were both amazed how fast four hours can zoom by when you're sharing life together. And every so often, a fish would turn up in our fish house.

Do you have a friend in your life in which four hours seems like four minutes? Conversely, we all have those people who can make four minutes feel like four hours. But I'm talking about that friend in which you can just be yourself, talk much, talk little, not talk at all, and yet the rhythm of life flows at a perfect pace. If so, this is a gift from God.

Listed above is my first crappie of the year. I know that this picture doesn't do justice to this fish, which weighed slightly over 20 pounds. Okay...maybe 20 lbs less. Let's just say I'll take it.

Today it felt like I caught my limit. How about you?
