The defining moment for the church is its willingness to respond to those in need. And yet, it is so easy to become desensitized to the many problems our culture faces.

And yet, the Bible teaches that our position or role as a follower of Christ is to build others up - regardless of the situation.  In fact, the Bible says that we are to count others as better than ourselves (Philippians 2:3).  Having such a mindset places us in a position to serve, and to see the best in others.  Apostle Paul writes to the church of Ephesus:

Ephesians 4:29

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Translated: "Never look down on anybody unless you're helping him up."

What is one need that you see around you that you may have the opportunity to "build upon?"   Ask God for His strength and take the courage to step in.
